Plain Salt is a group of prairie-born folk who express their fondness for Maritime and Celtic music with an acoustic combination of guitar, mandolin, whistle, fiddle, and vocal harmonies. All four members were raised in the prairies of Manitoba (thus Plain) and share a love of Celtic and Maritime music (Salt). For a primarily Celtic and Maritime band, however, the members of Plain Salt demonstrate an eclectic mix of ethnicity ranging from the Scottish and Irish one would expect through English, German-Dutch, Mennonite, Swedish, and Corsican. Such a blend gives them license to go off on musical tangents from time to time when the mood strikes them: resulting in experiments with modern pop, bluegrass, gospel and whatever else they can beg, borrow or steal. Their mix of traditional and popular folk music is highly conducive to singing or clapping along. Feel free to join in!
